About Us

Across the nation there are many on-going efforts to create a Geographic Information System (GIS) that includes the dimension of time. "Temporal GIS" is one term used to describe these projects, which range from tracking daily weather to tracing land use changes through time. In Denver, a small group of professionals from the fields of Geography and History have formed a not-for-profit organization to create a temporal GIS in an attempt to document the complex history of the area by utilizing GIS and the Internet.

Formed as TEMPORAL GIS, INC., the goal of our 501(c)(3) company is to create a means to display, query, and spatially analyze collections of historic and contemporary map data, photos, text, and other information for use in schools throughout Colorado.
